Fünf Songs noch, dann ist das schwächste Halbfinale aller Zeiten beim Eurovision Song Contest zu Ende. Gottlob, mag man da sagen. Und wirklich verpassen wird auch niemand etwas, der bereits vor dem letzten Drittel ins Bett geht – da bleibt nur die Hoffnung auf gute Interval Acts, aufs zweite Halbfinale und aufs Finale. Hier warten griechische Langweiler (same procedure as every year), Adoro für Arme aus Weißrussland und Isländischer Dancefloor, der Dieter Bohlen stolz machen würde, auf den geneigten Zuschauer. Hoffen wir, dass manch Song live einfach drastisch besser wirkt – das ist ja nie ganz ausgeschlossen…

	13. Griechenland	Giorgos Alkaios & Friends	Opa	ESC-Teilnahmen: 30	bestes Resultat: Rang 1 (2006)
Stefan Zwieso zum Song:	Eigentlich braucht man sich den griechischen Beitrag gar nicht anhören – man weiß eh, dass die x-te Kopie von Helena Paparizous “My Number One” am Start ist.  Dies stand vor einem Jahr an dieser Stelle – und es ist schon wieder so. Schaut man sich die Umfragen an, scheint es aber ja auch genügend Leute zu geben, die auch nach so vielen Kopien dem Ganzen nicht überdrüssig werden. Ich weiß jedenfalls, wann meine Toilettenpause ist – auch wenn Griechenland dieses Jahr fast so etwas wie Kreativität beweist und noch ein wenig Ruslana in den griechischen Ethnodance-Einheitsbrei reingemixt hat.
zweite Meinung:	“For me this is the best Greek entry for a long time and it ticks all the boxes for a potential Eurovision winner. The song is instantly memorable, it stands out from the crowd and it’s well performed and unlikely to go wrong live.” (Keith Mills, All Kind Of Everything)

Giorgos Alkaios & Friends – Opa

	14. Portugal	Filipa Azevedo	Há Dias Assim	ESC- Teilnahmen: 43	bestes Resultat: Rang 6 (1996)
Matthias Pohlmann zum Song:	Eigentlich schickt Portugal Jahr für Jahr zumindest akzeptable Beiträge zum Eurovision Song Contest – leider selten mit dem verdienten Erfolg (mindestens) einer Finalteilnahme. Große Ausnahme der Neuzeit: Das vergangene Jahr. In diesem Jahr ist für mich der schwächste portugiesische Beitrag seit Jahren am Start (wiewohl dieser Beitrag aus diesem Halbfinale dennoch heraus ragt) – was weniger am Song selbst als an den stimmlichen Qualitäten der Interpretin liegt. Insbesondere in den Höhen sind da doch arge Schwächen. Leider.
zweite Meinung:	“I was in Lisbon for the Portuguese selection and I felt at the time that this was one of the more mundane ballads of the year and that it wouldn’t qualify. However I think Filipa may be growing in confidence and the new arrangement is far better for her, so it could just squeeze it.” (Keith Mills, All-Kinds-Of Everything)

Filipa Azevedo – Há Dias Assim

	15. Mazedonien	Next Time	Neshto Shto Ke Ostane	ESC- Teilnahmen: 9	bestes Resultat: Rang 12 (2006)
Stefan Zwieso zum Song:	Alle Umfragen und die Wettbüros sehen diesen Song als einen der ganz großen Favoriten – auf den letzten Platz. Schaut man sich Mazedoniens Performance in den letzten Jahren an, so mag das schon deshalb zutreffen, weil das Land bereits mit deutlich besseren Beiträgen im Halbfinale stecken geblieben ist. Aber davon abgesehen ist der Song eigentlich gar nicht mal schlecht – und es würde mich persönlich sehr freuen, wenn sich hier alle täuschen würden und Mazedonien ins Finale einzieht – trotz der etwas seltsam anmutenden Rap(?)-Passage in der Mitte des Songs.
zweite Meinung:	“This is a very awkward mixture of musical styles that makes no sense either visually or musically. Linkin Park can make this kind of music work, but Gjoko looks totaly out of place. 	16. Weißrussland	3+2	Butterflies	ESC-Teilnahmen: 6	bestes Resultat: Rang 6 (2007)
Matthias Pohlmann zum Song:	Puh – was ist das denn? Adoro ist Il Divo für Arme – das ist zeitweise Adoro für Arme. Wäre denn das Lied toll und die Sänger überdurchschnittlich – es bliebe immer noch das Problem, dass solch ein Song beim Song Contest extrem schwer zu performen ist – nun ist aber weder das Lied toll noch die Sänger live besonders überzeugend (bis hierher) – für weit vorne sollte das also nicht reichen. Zugegeben, das ist (auch) Wunschdenken.
zweite Meinung:	“I’m really not sure what to make of this entry, because we haven’t heard a proper live version, as of yet. If you can get over the appalling English pronunciation, the song is a little tricky to perform, with its close three part harmony. If it comes off, it should make it through the semi-final, if not, it won’t as Belarus isn’t exactly falling over with friendly neighbour votes. Either way, I don’t see it being on the left hand side of the scoreboard at the final.” (Keith Mills, All Kinds Of Everything)

3+2 – Butterflies

	17. Island	Hera Björk	Je ne sais quoi	ESC- Teilnahmen: 22	bestes Resultat: Rang 2 (1999)
Stefan Zwieso zum Song:	Björk klingt ja ganz gut. Leider ist es aber nicht “die” Björk – sondern eine Teilnehmerin, die schon als Background-Sängerin vergangener Eurovisions-Verbrechen der Isländer am Start gewesen war. Und – juhu – es gibt wieder Eurodance aus Island. Dieter wäre sooooooooo stolz auf euch. Ich bins nicht. Grauenvoll. Und damit ein passender Abschluss für dieses erste Halbfinale. Doch der letzte Startplatz macht wahrscheinlich, dass man damit sogar ins Finale kommt…
zweite Meinung:	“I have to go back to 1999′s Cypriot entry to find something that I find as totally worthless as this song. It’s a horrible cacophony of badly recycled ideas with an awkward and charmless performance. If there was any justice it would fail miserably, but given its plumb draw, it might well be inflicted on us in the final.” (Keith Mills, All-Kinds-Of Everything)
